I bought this set up after allot of research online. I was ready to pay more than double the cost of this one for some other soundbars and the reviews just weren't as favorable.

When I first hooked it up, I used the included optical from my PS3 to the amp and during my first couple tests watching BlueRay movies, I had to have it on MAX sound and it sounded good but I didn't like it having any extra power. I was ready to return this unit and started researching some of the competition again when I decided to try hooking it up via HDMI before returning the unit. I popped in a BlueRay and much to my surprise, I had full rich sound at around 35 and MAX was too loud for standard viewing. I was thrilled b/c I always liked the quality of the sound, just not the max power output.

This is a real bargain for such a quality audio output at such a low price. I am very happy with my purchase

This sound bar is an excellent value. We have an elaborate sound system in our basement. But we also have an hdtv in our family room that, until now, provided sound only through the tv speakers. When we added a blu-ray player to the family room system, the tv speaker sound really began to bother me. What's the point of watching Dark Knight on a 50 inch plasma when the sound coming out from the tv speakers is so lousy? But our family room really would have been overwhelmed had I tried to emulate the sort of surround sound system we have in our basement. So I quickly decided we needed something more modest.

The Sony was perfect. Hooking it up couldn't have been easier. The subwoofer, at least in my setup, hides behind the tv and is, therefore, completely unobtrusive. The bar speaker sits comfortably, almost elegantly, on our tv stand directly in front of the LG TV. You would have to carefully examine our setup before you even realized that we had added a speaker system to it.

And the sound? Well, although it can't compare to the big system downstairs, it is a HUGE improvement over what existed before (the tv speakers alone). It's excellent -- solid bass and clear treble and mid-range notes. My tv has only one hdmi port so the Sony system also permits me to utilize my two hdmi components (blu-ray player and Apple TV) without buying an hdmi switcher. Sound is loud enough to fill a mid-sized family room. In fact, it is loud enough to drive my dear spouse from the room. I am not a big Sony fan in general -- in fact, I hate its constant promotion of proprietary interface devices. But this system is a joy to use and is an extraordinarily good buy.

This sound bar is perfect for those that don't need or want to run wires for a full surround system. In my particular case the room doesn't have enough walls for a full system. This bar provides upgraded sound, over TV speakers, with decent base umph from the sub-woofer. Even my wife commented the other day, "Wow it sounds like we're at the movies!" And coming from her that's quite the compliment. You can even use it as a receiver if you don't have a ton of gear. I would recommend this to anyone.
